In this paper, we investigate medical and pharmacoeconomic effects of a brain protective medicine, edaravone, by analyzing the data of acute cerebral infarction patients extracted from the medical affairs accounting system used at most of medical institutions in Japan. It is suggested that edaravone tends to shorten the length of stay in hospital and improve patients' prognosis, without increasing economic burden.
